A control unit 107 receives an operation signal from an inputting unit 110 and outputs it to a data operation restricting unit 116. A data analyzing unit 104 analyzes a presentation element contained in the interactive data and generates video data, which is the data signal. A data judging unit 117 judges whether a currently-presented presentation element is included in the same group as a presentation element that is a link destination of the presented presentation element. When the purchase state is a viewing permitted state, the data operation restricting unit 116 outputs the operation signal. When the purchase state is a preview state or viewing prohibited state and when the above two presentation elements are included in the same group, the operation restricting unit 116 also outputs the operation signal.

The storage controlling unit selectively stores data modules among a plurality of data modules included in received broadcast data, into a module storing unit. The storage controlling unit also stores storage information for each of the plurality of data modules into a storage information storing unit, the storage information showing the presence or absence of the data module in the module storing unit, a reason of the absence of the data module, and the like. When the user selects a data module as a reproduction target, the reproduction controlling unit judges whether the data module is stored in the module storing unit, based on storage information of the data module in the storage information storing unit. If the data module is stored in the module storing unit, the reproduction controlling unit reads the data module and produces a display corresponding to the data module on a TV screen. The data stream selection/output apparatus obtains timing information indicating a time at which a first data stream being output should be switched to a second data stream. The data stream selection/output apparatus, in a time period including the time indicated by the timing information, scans the first and second data streams to detect a first boundary between data blocks of the first data stream and a second boundary between data blocks of the second data stream, where the data blocks conform to a transmission protocol higher than Transport Layer of OSI Reference Model. The data stream selection/output apparatus then stops outputting the first data stream at the first block boundary and starts outputting the second data stream at the second block boundary.
