Provided is an ophthalmic lens, from which the elution of a coloring agent can be prevented effectively even when the ophthalmic lens is produced by polymerizing a polymerizable composition containing the coloring agent or when the ophthalmic lens is produced by printing an ink composition containing a coloring agent on a lens precursor by a know printing technique such as an inkjet printing method to allow the coloring agent to penetrate into the lens precursor. The ophthalmic lens is produced using a non-polymerizable compound represented by a specific structural formula as a coloring agent.

An azo colorant being superior in elution resistance from an ophthalmic lens material and miscibility with a monomer for an ophthalmic lens, and capable of coloring with various hues is provided. Also provided are an ophthalmic lens material that achieves reduced elution of a colorant and is uniformly colored, a method for producing an ophthalmic lens material, and an ophthalmic lens. A monoazo colorant for coloring an ophthalmic lens represented by the following general formula (1). The ophthalmic lens material of the present invention is produced from a composition containing the monoazo colorant, and a monomer for an ophthalmic lens having a polymerizable group, and thus contains a copolymer of the monoazo colorant and the monomer for an ophthalmic lens.
