A method and an arrangement for measuring concentrations of flue gas generated in a thermal process are disclosed. The method comprises the following steps: taking a flue gas sample from the flue gas flowing in a burning apparatus (1) and measuring with a measuring device (9) alkali halides of the flue gas sample. Flue gas is directed to the measuring device (9) through a sampling filter (17). The temperature of the sampling filter (17) is maintained at a temperature range that allows the alkali halides in the flue gas to penetrate the sampling filter (17) in a gaseous form.
