The sensor comprises (a) an anode, (b) a cathode, (c) a porous, woven ceramic oxide, electrical-insulating separator intermediate the anode and cathode for mechanically separating the anode and cathode while permitting flow of the gaseous sample through the separator, and (d) an electrolyte surface-coated with the pores of the separator.
