The present invention provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) sheet provided with a non-toluene-based PSA layer and having superior adhesion properties. A PSA sheet 8 is provided with a release liner 87 having, on at least a first side thereof, a release layer composed of a silicone-based release agent, and a PSA layer 85 provided on the release layer. A PSA composition that composes the PSA layer 85 contains a water-dispersed acrylic polymer and a tackifier resin emulsion prepared without using an organic solvent. The release layer has an amount of silicone that transfers to Single-Sided Adhesive Tape No. 31 B manufactured by Nitto Denko Corporation of 10 kcps or less per unit surface area equivalent to a circle having a diameter of 30 mm when determined as X-ray intensity of silicon by X-ray fluorescence analysis.

The double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or sheet is a double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or sheet containing a support having a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on the both surfaces thereof, characterized in that the double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or sheet has a total thickness including the thickness of the support and the two pressure-sensitive adhesive layers formed on the both surfaces of the support of 0.003 mm or more and less than 0.03 mm and a breaking strength of from 2 to 26 MPa/10 mm-width. The support preferably has a thickness of from 0.002 to 0.012 mm. As the support, plastic films (especially, a polyethylene terephthalate film) are suitable. The double-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or sheet may have a length of 5 m or more and have a roll-wound form.

The present invention provides a double-sided adhesive tape which enables suppression of deterioration of pressure-sensitive adhesive characteristics due to foaming of the surface of a pressure-sensitive adhesive, and occurrence of poor appearance, and is less likely to generate wrinkles in the case of taking up the tape and does not cause interlaminar fracture (delamination) upon peeling even after practical use during which heat history is loaded for a long time, and also which is less likely to be torn off or to generate adhesive residue upon peeling off the double-sided adhesive tape from one side of the adherend, and is excellent in peeling property; and a method for producing the same. Particularly, the present invention provides a method for producing a double-sided adhesive tape, which causes neither generation of wrinkles nor cutting of a nonwoven fabric base material even when a pressure-sensitive adhesive is applied to the nonwoven fabric base material at a higher speed than in the case of the prior art, and also has improved productivity. Disclosed is a double-sided adhesive tape including a nonwoven fabric base material containing substantially no binder component and having a tensile strength in a longitudinal direction of from 4.1 to 10.0 N/10 mm; and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided on both surfaces of the nonwoven fabric base material; wherein the double-sided adhesive tape has an initial tensile strength in the longitudinal direction of 17.0 N/10 mm or more.
