The invention relates to a synchronizing method and transfer arrangement for synchronizing the patterns of movement between two units included in a packaging line, where one unit is driven intermittently and the other continuously. The invention relates in particular to a transfer arrangement between an intermittently operating tube filler and a continuously operating cartoning machine. The transfer arrangement has a frame arrangement (13) intended to support tube pickers/placers (28) and arranged for a pivoting movement about a horizontal axis (16) and for a turning movement about a vertical axis (17). The turning movement about the axis (17) gives an acceleration course for the frame in a position in front of the tube release station, and this turning movement generating acceleration is obtained by means of an axially acting cam guide (32). The latter is designed so that the tube pickers/placers in the release position are given the same speed as the case conveyor of the cartoning machine.

The invention concerns an efficient method of producing a filled packaging container having a plurality of flexible lengths of extruded tube (2, 2') and breast portions (3, 3') which are joined together. The method comprises the further steps of attaching one end of the flexible tube (2, 2') to a respective hollow breast portion (3, 3') and then securing the breast portions (3, 3') together. As a next step the tubes are filled and the open ends of the tubes are heated internally prior to the plurality of tube ends being clamped together and thus sealed. The resulting package of the invention is cheap to manufacture and has a large open end through which to fill due to the use of flexible extruded tube.

The invention relates to a machine for performing the necessary process steps in order to provide finished tubes at high capacity by means of a continuously driven conveyor system. The machine has a conveyor track comprising conventional straight part-sections (11, 12, 13) combined with an arrangement of transport/transfer wheels (16-22). By virtue of their positioning, the transfer wheels form effective transport sections, which are individually adaptable to the respective processing operation, for tubes present in cassettes/tube holders in the conveyor system. Each wheel has processing tools which have the same spacing as all the cassette/tube holder positions and rotate with the respective wheel. In the preferred embodiment, use is made of robots (25, 28) for the infeed of empty tubes to and, respectively, the outfeed of processed tubes from the arrangement of transport/transfer wheels.
