摘要: There is provided a steering device in which fastening of a column is carried out smoothly, meshing of a movable tilt lock gear and a fixed tilt lock gear is carried out smoothly when tilting is clamped, and a rigidity can be increased when the tilting is clamped. A side plate 24 on a left side to which a fixed tilt lock gear 47 is attached is restrained from being elastically deformed by a rib 243. Therefore, in tilting and clamping and telescopically clamping, positions of the fixed tilt lock gear 47 and a movable tilt lock gear 6 in a vehicle width direction relative to each other is not varied, and therefore, the movable tilt lock gear 6 and the fixed tilt lock gear 47 are brought in mesh with each other smoothly.

摘要: Construction is achieved wherein the front-end section of an outer column 18a is assembled in the rear-end section of a housing 11a that houses an electric power steering apparatus 10a from below. A block shaped connection and fastening section 36 is provided on the rear-end section of the housing 11a. A pair of slits 37 is formed in portions of the connection and fastening section 36 near the left and right ends, and are open on the bottom end surface and rear end surface of the connection and fastening section 36. At least the front-end section of the outer column 18a has a pair of side plate sections 30 and a bottom plate section 31 that is formed in a U shape that is open at the top. The side plate sections 30 are inserted inside the slits 37 from below. In this state, the connection and fastening section 36 and the front-end section of the outer column 18a are connected and fastened by a bolt 39.

After the connection and fastening section 36 has been inserted inside the front-end section of the outer column 18a through the opening at the top end of the front-end section, fastening nuts 40 are screwed onto the tip end sections of fastening bolts 39 that are inserted in the left-right direction through portions near the top ends of the connection and fasting section 36 and the front-end section of the outer column 18a, and by tightening the nuts 40, the connection and fastening section 36 and front-end section of the outer column 18a are connected and fastened together.

摘要: A structure is achieved in which two portions in the axial direction of a cable 38 for electric equipment by an energy-absorbing member 35 on an inner column 9a side and a cable support bracket 52 on an outer column 10a side, such that the cable 38 can be suppressed from becoming a resistance to forward displacement of a steering wheel during a secondary collision. The energy-absorbing member 35 has a support plate section 46, part of which displaces in the downward direction during a secondary collision. Part of the middle section of two portions of the cable 38 in the axial direction is supported by the support plate section 46. During a secondary collision, the middle section of the cable 38 displaces and is bent in the downward direction as the support plate section 46 deforms. As a result, the cable 38 is suppressed from tightening in the axial direction during a secondary collision.
