The magnetization device (1) includes: a magnetizing yoke (6) including a pair of opposed end portions (6a, 6a) opposed to each other across a magnetic gap; an exciting coil (7) wound on the magnetizing yoke (6); a magnetization power source (8) supplying a magnetizing current to the exciting coil (7) to pass magnetic flux between the opposed end portions (6a, 6a); and a magnetic shield (9) which is provided to the magnetizing yoke (6) and shields flow of the magnetic flux to the rows of magnetic encoder tracks other than a magnetization target. Because of this configuration, it is possible to accurately magnetize each of the plural rows of magnetic encoder tracks (3, 4) arranged adjacent to each other, without influencing the adjacent magnetic encoder track (3, 4), and a magnetization device for a magnetic encoder which allows reduction of wasted steps and a compact plural-row magnetic encoder which uses magnetization of the magnetization device are obtained.
