摘要: In order to produce a non-cracky, integral, biaxially-oriented plastics material mesh structure 15 having a high strength/weight ratio, having high MD (machine direction) strength and substantially greater strength in the MD than in the TD (transverse direction), and having high creep resistance, a starting material 1 is provided having a rectangular grid of holes 8 and the starting material 1 is stretched in the MD to such an extent that the junctions are not significantly oriented, is stretched in the TD to such an extent that the junctions are not significantly oriented, and is finally stretched in the MD to such an extent that the junction centres thin down by at least 30% and there is significant narrowing down of the junction. The resultant MD stretch is substantially greater than the resultant TD stretch.

摘要: It is known to use small, light weight mesh pieces having high flexural recovery, to strengthen a matrix. Such mesh pieces are very difficult to handle and package. In order to provide a suitable packaging system, mesh pieces 11 are deposited across the width of a moving run of flexible wrapping material 13 and are deposited in longitudinally overlapping relationship along the length of the wrapping material, by feeding the mesh pieces 11 on a belt 10 which moves more quickly than the wrapping material 13; the mesh pieces 11 are ejected from the end of the belt 10 onto the wrapping material 13. The direction of movement of the wrapping material 13 is inclined downwards so that the trailing ends of the mesh pieces 11 contact the wrapping material 13 before the leading ends contact the preceding mesh piece 11. The wrapping material 13, with the mesh pieces 11 on it, is then rolled up under tension into a spiral bale so that the overlapping edges curl down and prevent the mesh pieces 11 slipping out.

摘要: In order to deposit in a speedy manner an even layer of sand reinforced with randomly mixed small mesh pieces of high flexural recovery (4), a tracked vehicle 1 is used. The vehicle has a hopper 3 for the reinforced matrix 4, from which the matrix 4 is fed by a feed conveyor 5 to a vertically reciprocating transverse blade 12; on each stroke, the blade 12 penetrates the top surface to push the mesh pieces down into the layer. The layer then passes down between parallel runs of two belts 9,10, is deposited from the lower belt 10 onto the soil, and is subsequently smoothed by a vibrating plate 11.

摘要: A laminate 3 is used which has on the bottom a geotextile fabric 2 with the mesh structure 4 on the top. The fabric 2 is adhered to the ground or road base 1 by spraying or spreading a bituminous liquid onto the ground and laying on the laminate and applying further adhesive to the top of the laminate 3; the asphalt 5 is then placed and rolled. The laminate 3 is formed of a square or rectangular mesh structure 4 which has oriented strands connected at junctions which are thicker than the strands and have low-orientated or unorientated nodules. On one side the surface of the nodules are melted and the fabric 2 is pressed into the nodules so that the plastics material of the nodules envelopes some of the fibres or filaments of the fabric 2 to form a mechanical bond. In this way, the oriented strands stand proud of the fabric 2, to enable the asphalt aggregate to penetrate into the meshes and interlock with the strands.
