    [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS]
    The present invention provides a roll of an optical film laminate adapted for use in an apparatus for continuously producing liquid-crystal display elements, wherein the optical film comprises a polarizing composite film comprised of a laminate consisted of a continuous web of polarizer and a protective film superposed on one side of the continuous polarizer, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer disposed on one side of the laminate; and a carrier film superposed on the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer of the polarizing film in a freely peelable state, wherein, in the polarizing film, defective and normal regions have been determined based on the positions of defects detected, wherein, according to the defective and normal regions of the polarizing film, coded information including slitting position information which specifies the position where a slit line is to be formed in the continuous optical-film web with a cutter of the continuous-production apparatus has been recorded on the continuous web. The coded information is constituted so that it can be read by a reader of the continuous-production apparatus.

    [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS]
    The present invention provides a continuous method and system for manufacturing liquid-crystal display elements, comprising and adapted to perform steps of, defining a plurality of defective-polarizing-sheet slitting positions and normal-polarizing-sheet slitting positions on a continuous web of an optical film, based on positions of defects existing in the continuous web of the optical film detected by a preliminary inspection, and applying a normal polarizing sheet to a liquid-crystal panel to manufacture a liquid-crystal display element, wherein the polarizing sheet formed to have a dimension corresponding to that of the liquid-crystal panel is formed from the continuous web of the optical film having slit-position information including the defective-polarizing-sheet slitting positions and normal-polarizing-sheet slitting positions recorded thereon, as encoded information, wherein the step comprises; calculating the feed-length measurement data based on the fed-out distance of the continuous web; reading the encoded information recorded on the continuous web; forming a plurality of slit lines by slitting the continuous web from the surface opposite to the carrier film along the slitting positons, based on the encoded information and the feed-length measurement data; determining whether the polarizing sheet defined between the slit lines sequentially formed in the continuous web, is a normal polarizing sheet or not, peeling the polarizing sheet determined to be the normal polarizing sheet from the carrier film and conveying to the lamination station; and applying the normal polarizing sheet to the liquid-crystal panel.
