The invention relates to a light-emitting diode chip which comprises a radiation exit surface (1) and a contact structure (2, 3, 4), disposed on the radiation exit surface (1), and a bond pad (4) and a plurality of contact webs (2, 3), provided for current spreading and electrically contacted to the bond pad (4). The inventive chip is characterized in that the bond pad (4) is provided in an edge area of the radiation exit surface (1). The light-emitting diode chip is especially characterized by a reduced absorption of emitted radiation (23) in the contact structure (2, 3, 4).
