摘要: A method of printing documents including pages having different device-specific properties, such that some of the pages must be printed on a printer of a first type and other pages must be printed on a printer of a second, different, type, in a network system including a printer of said first type and a printer of said second type.
New print jobs are automatically analysed with respect to the device-specific properties of the individual pages and each page is designated, on the basis of the analysis, either for processing on a printer of said first type or for processing on a printer of said second type.
Then, the jobs are made locally available for printing on each of the printers. A user may now locally start a job on any of the printers and that printer then automatically selects and prints only the pages of the job, designated for processing on its own type of printer. Then, the user may locally start that same job on any of the printers of the other type and that printer then also automatically selects and prints only the pages of the job designated for processing on its own type of printer. Therewith, the job is complete.
The prints made on the first printer may be loaded in the second printer and are then automatically inserted at the correct places in the job, obviating any merging by hand.

摘要: A method executes a printing job on a sequence of a first plurality of printer facilities through dividing the printing job into partial jobs and selectively assigning each partial job to a respective printer facility for through so distributing the partial jobs over said printer facilities attaining an improved throughput for the printing job.
In particular, the method structures a job termination pattern by assigning to a particular printer facility of said plurality a partial job that will complete earlier than a partial job assigned to another printer facility of said plurality by a time difference based on, and preferably at least as long as, a predetermined non-zero time interval. Such a time interval may be defined by an opeartor in advance.
All printer facilities involved in a printing job are assigned respective partial jobs so that their sequence of completion time instants, in compliance with the user-selected time interval, will constitute a monotonously non-decreasing series.

摘要: A method of post-processing sheets processed by a sheet processing apparatus provided with a sheet punching device for punching a set of two or more spaced holes in sheets. The method comprises punching the set of holes in all sheets of a first batch, in a first, standard, position, wherein the sheets of the first batch have substantially equal size and orientation, and also allows an operator of the sheet processing apparatus to specify (1) at least one second batch of sheets having substantially the same size and orientation as the sheets of the first batch, and (2) a shift of the position in which said set of holes is to be punched in the sheets of the second batch, to a second position, whereafter the set of two or more spaced holes is punched in the second position in the sheets of the second batch, thereby providing a possibility to create a staggered stack of sheets, by stacking subsequent first and second batches of sheets with holes aligned, such as by placing them in a ring binder.
The shift may be ordered for a complete processing job, for sub-sets made in a processing job, or single sheets. In the last-mentioned case, the shifted punching results in a stack containing emulated TAB sheets.

摘要: A method of controlling document processing in a networked system and a digital image reproduction device for document processing are described. The system has workstations for submitting processing jobs of a user, and a memory unit for managing the jobs that are waiting to be executed. The method includes providing, at a user interface (40) of the digital image reproduction device, control elements (44,45) for a user to select a processing job from the processing jobs in a logical storage space; and executing the selected processing job. Kickstart processing jobs are selected, based on predetermined kickstart criteria, from the processing jobs in the memory unit, and a corresponding set of kickstart control elements (41) is provided at the user interface, each coupled to a respective one of the selected kickstart processing jobs.
When a kickstart control element is activated by a user, the associated kickstart processing job is directly initiated.

摘要: A method and system are described for executing document scanning jobs intended for a remote work station through using a wireless connection between the work station and a scanner facility. When a user, carrying a mobile device, approaches a multifunctional reproduction device automatically a scanning template will be uploaded from the mobile device to the multifunctional device. In case the user now makes himself known to the multifunctional device and prepares for a scan job, at the user interface of the multifunctional device, the scan template will be displayed for further specification of the scan job by the user. After completion of the scan job the scanned data is downloaded to the mobile device. When the connection is closed the scanning template and data belonging to the scan job are removed from the multifunctional device.

摘要: A method and apparatus of secure transmission of digital data relating to a document between any of a scanner, a printer and a host computer such as a user workstation.
At a sending station, a document file is generated or otherwise specified and a user-defined character string is inputted by an operator in the local user interface. Then, the sending station automatically forms an encryption key based on said user-defined character string and encrypts document file therewith. However, one or more predetermined specifying header items of the file are not encrypted, to facilitate recognition and handling of the file.
A transmission file, including the encrypted document file, is then transmitted towards a receiving station, where the encrypted document file is decrypted on the basis of the same user-defined character string as was entered at the sending station, when the latter is entered in the local user interface of the receiving station.
Even though the transmission file is encrypted, the unencrypted header items enable file handling, such as routing, and accounting.
