摘要： An elevator machine (34) comprises a motor (60), a sheave (36), and a bearing system supporting the sheave for rotation about an axis (500). The bearing system comprises: an inner sleeve (82); an inner race (102) mounted to the inner sleeve; a housing (84); an outer race (104) mounted to the housing; one or more circumferential arrays of rolling elements (110, 112) between the inner race and the outer race; and a shield (160; 161). The shield comprises a hub (166) secured to the sleeve and a radially outwardly open channel (220, 222) at least along a portion of the shield.
