    摘要: A wireless mailing system (10) that has a minimal number of interface cables between devices, while still maintaining full functionality, is easy to add devices to, and provides remote access for each device without having a dedicated telephone line for each device or having to transport each device to a telephone line is provided. A mailing system (10) includes a plurality of devices, each of which is adapted to communicate with the other devices via a wireless communication link to form a local network.(30) A gateway server (12) can act as the master of the local network (30) to coordinate communication between the devices in the local network (30), or alternatively, the devices in the local network (30) can communicate directly with each other. Additionally, the gateway server (12) allows remote access to the local network (30) via a standard telephone network or other data network, such as, for example, the Internet.

    摘要: A method and system for providing external user interfaces is described. In one configuration a co-located external processor (40) and a business machine (70) negotiate a communications connection. The co-located external processor (40) then utilizes a server (60) to determine a shared secret in order to pair a wireless connection with the business machine (70) in order to act as the user interface for the business machine (70). In another configuration, the co-located external processor (40) is connected to a remote data center that authenticates the user and provides the user interface code and secret pairing information to the co-located external processor (40). In another configuration, the co-located external processor (40) performs data processing for providing a cryptographically processed print stream to a postage meter.
