    摘要: A system and method is provided for printing an advertisement for insertion into a mailpiece. A customer computer system (150) communicates with a mailing service provider data processing system (80). The customer computer system (150) transmits to the mailing service provider data processing system (80) an electronic copy of at least one mailing address and at least one corresponding document to be mailed to the mailing address. The mailing address is cleansed as necessary by the mailing service provider data processing system (80), which then identifies a subset of third party advertisements available for insertion into a mailpiece to be assembled with the corresponding document. Enclosures to be printed from the subset of third party advertisements are selected by the customer or automatically by mailing service provider data processing system based on advertisement profiles. The corresponding document and the selected enclosures are printed and then inserted into an envelope to form the assembled mailpiece.

    摘要: A method for tracking checks though a mail system and a bank clearing system comprising:

    obtaining a postal tracking identifier associated with a mail piece from a user;
    receiving a check identifier associated with the mail piece;
    receiving postal tracking data associated with the postal tracking identifier;
    receiving check tracking data associated with the check identifier; and
    associating the postal tracking data with the check tracking data.

    摘要: A system for providing items of value, charging the items to a smart card, and for recharging the smart card. The system includes a station (30) for providing the items of value, which may be postal services, and debiting the cost of the items to a smart card; the smart card being charged with funds equivalent data. The station also communicates with a Data Center (10) for recharging the smart card. Users of the system communicate with the data center to request recharge of a particular smart card and in response to an authorization request the data center generates an encrypted authorization message which includes an identification number, the amount of recharge requested, and control data, which preferably includes a control sum formed by adding the amounts stored in a descending register, which stores the amount available on the smart card, and an ascending register which stores the total of the amounts by which the card has been charged since initialization. Thus, the authorization message may be used only once. From time-to-time the Data Center (10) transmits authorization messages to each station (30) on the system. When a particular smart card for which an authorization message has been received is connected to a station (30), the smart card compares the control data with the control data stored on the smart card and if there is a match updates the funds equivalent data in the descending register of the smart card. To provide security against transmission of false authorization messages to a station, the authorization messages are encrypted, preferably using a public key encryption system.

    摘要: A postage printing system, comprising a computer (150), a data center (200) and a control system (152,202). The computer (150) is in operative communication with a printer (120,130) for printing a postal indicia (30) on an envelope (20). The data center (200) is in operative communication with the computer (150) which in turn is located remotely from the data center (200). The data center includes a plurality of user accounts (204) and a plurality of advertiser accounts (206) where each of the plurality of advertiser accounts includes respective ad data including message data and restriction data. The control system (152,202) is in operative communication with the data center (200) and the computer (150) and is for: (i) establishing a transaction session between a user of the computer corresponding to one of the plurality of user accounts and the data center; (ii) obtaining recipient address information from the user; and (iii) using the recipient address information and the restriction data from the plurality of advertiser accounts to identify message data available for printing on the envelope in conjunction with the postal indicia.
