The second lateral elastic bodies (20, 22) have a degree of elasticity lower than that of the central elastic body (18) so that the suspension in all loading conditions provides a certain degree of residual flexibility predetermined by design.

For each side of the vehicle one arm (10) has a geometrical configuration adapted to react to lateral thrust and the other (8) has the form of a rod articulated at its ends with ball joints (30, 32, 36) to afford a good degree of freedom in the coupling and impart to the system the capability of articulation and follow the unevennesses of the ground.

A device for straight travelling stabilization and change of attitude on predetermined paths for vehicle axles, comprising a permanent elastic energy loading unit (10) which applies to the axle stabilizing forces of a greater intensity than the external forces acting thereon, a shifting actuator (20) which, when operated, applies to the axle forces of greater intensity than that of said stabilizing forces and thus causes it to be steered, and a shifting actuator control member (30) which is actuated when there are variations in the travelling attitude of the main steering system of the vehicle. The device permits the axle on which it it applied to be kept in the condition of a fixed axle and permits to render it steering only when the main steering system of the vehicle is subjected to steering.

57 The anchoring of rigid axles (8, 18, 38) to the chassis (21, 26) of vehicles provided with vertically movable suspensions secured to the chassis is effected by means of a reduced number of separate connection elements reacting to longitudinal thrust and to the braking torque, and by the use of rotary translating joints which, when appropriately combined, absorb the transverse thrust and permit all the movements required for the axle for its articulation. For each axle it is contemplated to use at least one of such joints which is secured on the one side to the base of the suspesion (10, 20) and, on the other side, to the axle (8, 18,38).
