    摘要: A power control mechanism having a number of states and suitable for a communication system in which data transmissions are not continuous (i.e., bursty in nature). In one embodiment, a power control unit includes a data processor, a state machine, and a threshold adjustment element. The data processor receives and processes an input signal to provide states of data frames received from the input signal for a particular data transmission. The state machine receives the frame states and provides a current state for the power control unit. The current state is indicative of a status of a particular communication session that includes the data transmission, and is one of a number of possible states. The threshold adjustment element receives the frame status and the current state and adjusts a power control setpoint in response thereto. The setpoint is used to control the signal quality of the input signal and is adjusted in accordance with a particular adjustment scheme selected from a number of possible adjustment schemes associated with a respective possible state.

    摘要: An Access Terminal can send a first set of slots of a first packet to an Access Network, wherein the first set of slots is a subset of a plurality of slots of the first packet and includes one or more slots. Then, the Access Terminal can gate off for a predetermined period of time after sending the first set of slots of the first packet and before sending a next set of slots, wherein the predetermined period of time is determined by the number of slots in the first set of slots of the first packet. Finally, the Access Terminal can determine the next set of slots to send based on whether an ACK or a NAK corresponding to successful or unsuccessful decoding, respectively, of the first set of slots of the first packet has been received from the Access Network and send the next set of slots after the predetermined period of time.

    摘要: Upon successful decoding of a first set of slots of a first data packet, an Access Network (AN) can send an acknowledge message (ACK) to an Access Terminal (AT) to indicate that the AN has successfully decoded the data received in the first set of slots of the first data packet. Upon unsuccessful decoding of the first set of slots of the first data packet, the AN can send a negative acknowledge message (NAK) to the AT to indicate that the AN has not successfully decoded the data received in the first set of slots of a first data packet. Based upon receipt of the NAK, the AT can resend the data by sending a second set of slots of the first data packet containing redundant data. Based upon receipt of the ACK, the AT can send a first set of slots of another packet.

Retransmitting the physical layer packet of data at least one more time after based on whether the repeat of decoding of the acknowledgment channel (340) produces a negative acknowledgment message. The retransmission may be conditioned upon a throughput level of communications between the base station and the mobile station.
