    摘要: A tundish (32) for containing molten metal and delivering the metal to a work zone where the metal solidifies as it is moved through the work zone in a continuous casting process, the tundish comprising means for containing the molten metal and including an outlet, a pervious flow restricting element being positioned in the outlet to permit flow of molten metal into the work zone, the element causing a pressure drop in the flow of the metal across the element and the flow through the element being distributed throughout the pervious element, the element also providing a temperature gradient between the molten metal in the tundish and the work zone to permit the tundish to contain molten metal at elevated temperatures while the molten metal entering the work zone is near the solidus/liquidus temperature of the metal. The invention also provides a method and apparatus for using the tundish in association with a chilled substrate (36) moving through the work zone.
