In addition, the spray control bark collar (10) delivers successively larger doses of the spray deterrent to the dog to deter the dog from further barking should the dog fail to respond to previous deterrent attempts. Finally, the spray control bark collar (10) monitors the usage of the spray deterrents to gauge (400) the amount of the deterrent substance remaining in the deterrent substance reservoir (112).

An animal training apparatus including an electrical conductor embedded within a flexible member, and a housing having a through-opening for receiving the electrical conductor therethrough. The flexible member is molded around the electrical conductor and the antenna, while the electrical conductor is positioned such that it extends into the housing through the through-opening. As a result of the molding process, the flexible member shields the housing through-opening, discouraging substances such as water from accessing the interior of the housing via the through-opening.

In a device (12) adapted to dissuade a dog from barking, there is provided a reservoir (30) of spray material (50) associated with a collar (14) which encircles the dog's neck (16). The reservoir (30) includes at least one wall (32, 34, 36, 38) member defining an interior volume for the receipt of spray material (50) therein. The reservoir (30) includes a first dimension (i.e., a centerline) which lies within the median sagittal plane of an erect dog which is facing forward, thereby orienting one portion of the interior of the reservoir (30) vertically lowermost. An exit port (54) is provided for the transport of spray material (50) from the interior to the exterior of the reservoir (30). A semi-rigid, lengthwise substantially non-compressible, conduit (62) having a first end (64) thereof connected in fluid flow communication with the exit port (54), extends from the exit port (54) and terminates at its opposite and open end at the vertically lowermost interior portion of the reservoir (30) when the present appliance (10) is mounted at a location on the collar beneath the lower jaw (31) of the dog. The length of the conduit (62) is chosen to exceed the straight-line distance between the exit port (54) and the vertically lowermost portion of the reservoir (30) by an amount sufficient to provide for wedging of the conduit (62) against at least one interior wall of the reservoir (30) opposite the exit port (54) and preferably opposite to terminal open end of the conduit (62).
