    摘要: The starting material in a thixotropic forming process for the manufacture of road wheels, fitted ultimately with pneumatic tyres, is an ingot (1) of rheocast metal alloy preheated to the semisolid state: the ingot is injected into a closed die (5) affording a cavity (7) in the shape of the wheel and equipped with independent thermoregulating circuits (6), routed and controlled in such a way as to maintain the wider passages (A) of the cavity at a temperature lower than that of the narrower passages (B); to ensure the die fills properly, the ingot (1) is injected at a variable and controlled velocity, correlated both to the rate at which the alloy spreads through the cavity (7) and to the geometry of the cavity itself, whereupon a pressure much higher than the injection force is applied to the solid-semisolid interface within the alloy, and sustained until full solidification is achieved.

    摘要: A method by which ingots (2) of thixotropic metal alloy are brought to the semisolid or semiliquid state comprises the steps of introducing the single solid ingots (2) at ambient temperature into a heat chamber (4), generating air currents within the chamber so that the ingots are heated principally by convection, controlling the temperature of the ingots, and removing them from the chamber after a predetermined temperature has registered and been held steady in the alloy for a duration sufficient to induce the semisolid or semiliquid state; the ingots (2) are supported and conveyed through a circular path internally of the chamber (4) by a set of radial platforms (16) revolving between an infeed zone (5) and an outfeed zone (6).

    摘要: A pipe (1) conveying molten material upwards from a pressurized receptacle into the mould (17) of a low pressure diecasting machine (2), positioned on and supported by the selfsame receptacle, is secured in a fluid-tight fit by an adjustable coupling device; the pipe (1) extends through the top wall (4) of the receptacle and comprises a body (5) of which one end extends into the receptacle so as to pick up the molten material and the other terminates in a head (6), located externally of the receptacle and tightened together with a seal (28) against the mould (17). The outer surface (10) of the pipe (1) presents at least one substantially frustoconical portion (13) matched to the surfaces (15) of three wedges (12), disposed circumferentially around the pipe and mounted on slide ways (20), which can be directed by suitable actuators (16) from an at-rest position to an operating position in which the pipe is subjected to an axial force and distanced from the receptacle, and the head (6) clamped together with the seal (28) against the machine (2).
