The primary winding (30) is disposed together with the core (36, 41, 47) on the end shield (17). The primary and secondary windings (30, 31) of the transformer (29) are disposed between the end shield (17) and the claw-pole rotor system (23), wherein the primary winding (30) is disposed in a stationary core (36, 41, 47) and the secondary winding (31) is arranged on a rotary core (35, 42, 48) coupled by means of an air gap (38).

In order to improve the cooling efficiency and reduce air-flow noise, the coil (13a, 13b) at the ends of the stator plates (12) is surrounded by an annular air conduit (33, 34) with at least one inlet aperture (39) and at least one outlet aperture (41) for a cooling-air stream which passes over the surface of the end coil. The air conduits (33, 34) are formed by the machine housing (17, 18) and separated from the rotor by an annular partition (35, 36) located between the stator plates (12) and a bearing bracket mounted on the housing (17, 18).
