Abstract: A rotary transformer (100) for an electrical machine includes a rotary printed circuit board (102A) and a stator printed circuit board (102). The rotary printed circuit board (102A) is operatively connected to the stator printed circuit board (102) for relative rotation with respect to the stator printed circuit board (102). A conductor is fixed to the one of the printed circuit boards and includes a spiral coil (108) for transferring electrical energy between the rotary printed circuit board (102A) and stator printed circuit board (102).
