    摘要： Responsive to intercepting an outbound command, a command interceptor may, upon determining that the command is associated with a particular category of commands, transmit an anticipatory response to the source of the command, for example, to prematurely indicate that the command has met with success. Accordingly, a given application whose further execution is dependent upon the successful completion of the command may further execute earlier than would be the case if the given application was to await the transmission of the command, the generation of a response indicating success and the receipt of the response indicating success.

    摘要： The invention relates to a method and device for authenticating a user to a computer and a handheld electronic data communications device with telephony capabilities. The device comprises a user interface, means for accessing an authentication code on a smart card (130) and a short range communications subsystem (340) for establishing a communication link (115) with a personal computer (110). The method takes place in the device and comprises authenticating the user to the device by the smart card (130); reading an authentication code from the smart card; initiating release of the authentication code for transmission to the computer in response to entry of a correct user code; and transmitting the authentication code to the personal computer over the communication link to authenticate the user to the personal computer.

    摘要： A system and method for packaging electronic messages for delivery to a communication device is provided. Where the electronic message comprises at least one quoted parent message, the quoted parent message is identified by means of delimiters within the body of the electronic message, and the quoted message thus identified is replaced with an identifying instruction referring to an identifier corresponding to a previously received message comprising the quoted parent message. The edited electronic message is then transmitted to a recipient device, which uses the identifying instruction to reconstruct the original message by querying a data store using the identifier to locate a copy of the quoted parent message. If no quoted parent message is found by the recipient device a full version of the original electronic message is transmitted.
