摘要: The present invention provides a solid catalyst which can suppress generation of trimethylamine, while ensuring a suitable conversion rate of a methylation agent, thereby efficiently producing monomethyl amine with high selectivity, when the solid catalyst is used in a reaction between ammonia and a methylation agent; and a method for producing the solid catalyst. The present invention provides a method for producing a solid catalyst that has a specific surface area of 4 to 60 m2/g and that is a mordenite-type zeolite, the method comprising: a mixing step of mixing a raw material mordenite and a solution obtained by dissolving a basic salt in a solvent to form a mixed liquid; an evaporating-drying step of evaporating the mixed liquid to dryness to obtain a solution-treated mordenite; and a firing step of firing the solution-treated mordenite. It is preferable that a crystallinity of the solid catalyst is 80% or more.
