In said fuel supply system (1), fuel can be pumped by a pump (6, 10) into a pressure accumulator (2). The pressure inside the pressure accumulator (2) can be measured and the pressure in said pressure accumulator (2) can be modified by controlling a pressure control valve (4). The pressure control valve (4) can be fully opened by means of a control device (16) and the pressure measured inside the pressure accumulator (2) can be compared to the expected pressure using said control device (16).
