A thermoplastic resin composition which has a melt flow rate of 8 to 15 g/10 min and a flexural modulus at 23°C of 20,000 kg/cm 2 or more and which comprises (A) 60 to 76% by weight of a specific crystalline polypropylene in which the propylene homopolymer portion has a Q value of 3.0 to 5.0, an istactic pentad fraction of 0.975 or more and an intrinsic viscosity [η] of 1.20 to 1.40 dl/g as measured at 135°C in tetralin, (B) 2 to 10% by weight of an ethylene-butene-1 copolymer rubber, (C) 2 to 10% by weight of an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber and (D) 16 to 25% by weight of talc having an average particle diameter of 4 µm or less, and an injection molded article of the thermoplastic resin composition, said thermoplastic resin composition satisfying the impact strength and rigidity required as a material for an instrumental panel and having a short molding cycle and good surface quality.

A Polypropylene random copolymer is obtained by copolymerizing propylene and an α-olefin or propylene, ethylene and α-olefin, using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst substantially in the absence of solvent. The content of propylene is by weight 92.3 - 75.0%, of ethylene (E) 0 - 2.7%, and of α-olefin 5.0 - 25.0%. The content (C) of 20°C xylene-soluble components in the random copolymer satisfies following conditions:-
(1) ethylene content (E) less than 1.5%: C ≦ 12.0 (weight %) (2) ethylene content (E) 1.5% - 1.8%: C ≦ 42.0 - 20.0 x E (weight %) (3) ethylene content (E) 1.8% - 2.7%: C ≦ 6.0 (weight %)
Film of the copolymer has a good appearance and a good balance between heat-sealability and rigidity.

A polypropylene composition comprises by weight (a) 100 parts of a crystalline propylene polymer having a melt flow rate (MFR) of at least 3.0 g/10, preferably 3.0 - 50g, minutes and a molecular weight distribution of less than 5.0 and (b) 0.01 to 4.0, preferably 0.01 to 2.5 parts of a crystalline ethylene polymer having a MFR of from 0.5 to 300 g/10 minutes, a density of at least 0.910 g/cm³, and a crystallization temperature of at least 85°C and which is at least 1°C higher than the crystallization temperature of the crystalline propylene polymer. The polymers can be homopolymers or copolymers with an α-olefin. Other additives can be included. By melt-extruding the composition there is produced a molding of thickness 10 to 1000 µm from which a film of thickness 10 to 100 µm can be provided, e.g. by T-die film forming. The films are used for heat-sealable packaging material.

An antiblocking agent master batch which comprises 100 parts by weight of a polyolefin resin and 1 - 50 parts by weight of crosslinked polymer beads may be mixed with a polyolefin resin to give a composition in which the content of crosslinked polymer beads is 0.05 or more but less than 1 part by weight per 100 parts by weight of the total polyolefin resin. This composition may be oriented in at least a uniaxial direction to give an oriented film having good transparency.

(a) 80-95% of a crystalline polypropylene component comprising a propylene homopolymer or a copolymer of propylene and not more than one mole% of ethylene of an α-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms said copolymer having intrinsic viscosity [η] P of 0.8 to 2.0 dl/g, a ratio of weight average molecular weight Mw to number average molecular weight Mn of 3.0 to 5.0 as measured by gel permeation chromatography, and xylene-soluble content at 20°C of not more than 1.5% by weight; and (b) 5-20% of an ethylene-propylene random copolymer component having a composition consisting of ethylene and propylene in a weight ratio of ethylene to propylene of 20/80 to 60/40 and an intrinsic viscosity [η] EP of 3.5 to 8.5 dl/g.
Methods of preparing the two polymer components are described; the two are then admixed, optionally with other additives, especially an ethylene-α-olefin rubber. The product has good rigidity, impact strength, flow characteristics and appearance and is useful for molded parts, e.g. for automobiles.

A laminated polypropylene film consisting of a crystalline polypropylene layer having laminated to at least one side thereof a copolymer layer, said copolymer being a random copolymer of propylene and an α-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms or a random copolymer of propylene, an a-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms and ethylene obtained by vapor phase polymerization in the substantial absence of a liquid medium and satisfying the following conditions (1) to (4): (1) the content of an α-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms in the copolymer is 8 to 25 mole%, (2) the content of ethylene in the copolymer is 3 mole% or less, (3) the content of a cold xylene-soluble portion in the copolymer is 15 to 60% by weight, and (4) the content of a boiling n-heptane-insoluble portion in the copolymer is 7% by weight or more. Said laminated film has an excellent low-temperature heat-sealability, an excellent transparency, a low blocking and a good scratch resistance.

A packaging shrink film consisting essentially of a random copolymer of propylene and an a-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms or a random copolymer of propylene, an a-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms and ethylene, said random copolymer satisfying the following conditions:
(1) the content of an a-olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms in the copolymer is 8 to 30 mole %, (2) the content of ethylene in the copolymer is 3 mole % or less, (3) the content of a cold xylene-soluble portion in the copolymer is 15 to 60% by weight, and (4) the content of a boiling n-heptane-insoluble portion in the copolymer is 7% by weight or more, said film having been stretched. The packaging shrink film is soft and excels in low-temperature shrink characteristics as well as in transparency and gloss.
