Disclosed is a display apparatus (1) capable of receiving a remote control signal from a remote controller (10a-10n) for a different apparatus (2a-2n) and outputting a converted remote control signal and a control method thereof, the display apparatus including: a display (203) configured to display an image; a communicator (205) comprising communication circuitry; a signal receiver (201) configured to receive a remote control signal from among a plurality of remote controllers (10a-10n) respectively corresponding to a plurality of external apparatuses (2a-2n); and a controller (200) configured to perform a function corresponding to an image displayed on the display in response to a command included in the received remote control signal, or to control the communicator to transmit the command to an external apparatus (2a-2n) selected corresponding to the image displayed on the display from among the plurality of external apparatuses (2a-2n). Thus, the display apparatus (1) receives a remote control signal from a remote controller (10a-10n) for controlling an external apparatus (2a-2n), and uses the received remote control signal to directly perform a function or transmit a command to an apparatus desired to be controlled by a user, thereby allowing the user to easily use the remote controller.

An image capturing apparatus includes: a sensor; a camera; an image processor; a first communicator operatable in one between a first status and a second status that consumes less power than the first status; a second communicator having a lower data transmission rate than the first communicator; and a controller configured to make a request for whether to take an image with the camera to an external apparatus through the second communicator if the sensor senses an object while the first communicator is in the second status, control the image processor to generate the data of the image taken by the camera in response to an instruction received by the second communicator, and control the first communicator to switch over to the first status so that the data of the image are transmitted to the external apparatus through the first communicator.

A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and a driving method thereof are provided. The LCD includes: a display panel part including a pixel, the pixel including a plurality of sub-pixels; a panel driver which drives the sub-pixels; a backlight part which emits a light of different colors to the display panel part; a backlight driver which provides the light of the colors corresponding to fields of a frame in sequence by sequentially driving the backlight part according to the fields; and a controller which controls the panel driver to represent a color of the pixel of the frame by selectively using one or more of the sub-pixels of the pixel. Hence, the liquid crystal stress can be drastically improved without a loss of brightness.
Abstract:
A display apparatus and a control method thereof are provided. For example, a display apparatus which may control a hidden external apparatus that cannot be directly controlled by a remote control device and a control method thereof. Some of the disclosed example embodiments may provide a display apparatus which may analyze received first control information for the hidden external apparatus and output second control information for controlling the hidden external apparatus, and a control method thereof.
