A transmission actuator for a manual transmission of a motor vehicle is configured as a single-motor transmission actuator and is suitable for carrying out shifting and selecting operations. The transmission actuator has a first housing assembly, in which the single motor is arranged. The transmission actuator also has a second housing assembly, in which an actuator unit is arranged, said actuator unit comprising a spindle drive, which is provided for carrying out shifting operations, and a cam mechanism, which is provided for carrying out selecting operations. A common interior of the two housing assemblies is sealed by a static seal arranged between the first housing assembly and the second housing assembly. Two shafts arranged in the common interior, namely a drive shaft provided as the input shaft of the actuator unit and a measuring shaft provided for detecting a state of a mechanical component of the actuator unit, extend from the first to the second housing assembly.

The invention relates to a method for determining and/or controlling a position of an electric motor, in particular in a clutch actuation system of a motor vehicle, in which method the position of a rotor of the electric motor is picked up by a sensor system arranged on a stator of the electric motor, outside an axis of rotation of the electric motor, and the position signal picked up by the sensor system is analysed by an analysis unit. In a method which achieves highly reliable detection of the rotor position, the position signal is transmitted to the analysis unit, depending on the distance of transmission between the sensor system and the analysis unit, as an SPI protocol signal when the distance of transmission is short, and/or as a PWM signal when the distance of transmission is long.
