According to the invention, such a device is provided with the following characteristics: a channel (3, 30) which is arranged in an essentially horizontal manner and which is provided with an inlet and an outlet for the glass melt; the channel (3, 30) is made of a plurality of metal pipes (3.1-3.7; 30.1-30.6) in a similar way to a skull pot; said pipes can be connected to a cooling medium; a HF coil (1, 10, 100) for coupling HF energy into the melt is allocated to the channel.
