摘要: A drop generator for use in an ink jet printer is capable of stimulating long ink jet arrays at high operating frequencies. The drop generator comprises a substantially uniform cross section for a central portion and two end sections with different cross sections. The end sections have features to adjust a resonant frequency of the end sections to match that of the central portion. In particular, these features comprise cuts on a top of the drop generator. The drop generator utilizes multi-lobed radial bending modes for vibration of an array of orifices, and the vibrational modes are driven by at least two rows of transducers which extend substantially the length of the drop generator. The transducers are placed consistent with a lobe structure of an operational radial bending mode.

摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for separating the liquid and non-liquid components of a foamy mixture. The apparatus comprises a filter (18) means through which the liquid portion of the foam can pass and through which the gaseous or air component cannot pass, unless a pressure differential across the filter (18) exceeds the bubble point of the filter (18). First means (1) are provided to supply the foam to a first side (40) of the filter (18) means. Additional means (50) are provided to remove the liquid component of the foam from the second side (44) of the filter (18), and the gaseous component of the foam from the first side of the filter. A pressure differential is established between the two sides (40,44) of the filter (18) to cause the liquid component of the foam to pass through the filter (18); but the pressure differential across the filter (18) is prevented from exceeding the bubble point of the filter (18) to prevent the gaseous component of the foam from passing through the filter (18).

摘要: An orifice plate is fabricated for use in an ink jet printer. Initially, a mandrel is provided, and a holder is aligned to the mandrel. The mandrel and the holder are maintained in intimate contact and at equal electrical potential. The mandrel and the holder are placed at cathodic polarity. A plating material is then applied to the combined mandrel and holder to cause the mandrel and holder to form a single orifice plate directly bonded to the holder. The mandrel is then removed from the orifice plate.
