The invention concerns a method for estimating air temperature of a tyre internal cavity which consists in: prior to current operating conditions, performing a series of running tests of the tyre provided with means for measuring air temperature of the cavity at given speeds V and ambient temperatures Tamb , the tyre supporting a given load and the cavity being at a given internal relative pressure and in adjusting a function providing the internal air temperature Tai based on the speed and ambient temperature parameters; and in current operating conditions, the tyre equipping a vehicle in aforesaid conditions of load and relative pressure in the cavity, estimating the internal air temperature of the cavity on the basis of the vehicle speed and temperature outside the vehicle. The invention is useful for detecting any abnormal operating condition of a flat running system.
