摘要： The invention concerns a method for detecting multiple overlapping covers in a mail sorting installation (1) which consists in detecting a length variation in each cover by passing each cover in a plurality of passage detectors (4, 5, 6, 7). The passage detectors are located at different points of the mail sorting installation (1) and are configured to evaluate the length of each cover. During their displacement in the mail sorting installation, the multiple overlapping covers are gradually staggered from one another in particular as a result of mechanical frictions. Thus the global length of multiple overlapping covers tend to vary, such that an evaluation of the length variation of each cover supplies a reliable information for detecting the multiple overlapping covers. The evaluation of the length of a cover is relatively simple to implement, the performances of the installation are enhanced at a low cost.
