摘要: A waste collection unit (100) for collecting waste material through a suction line (S) during a medical procedure comprises a waste container (102, 104) configured to be in fluid communication with the suction line to collect the waste material during the medical procedure. Said waste container defines a collection chamber (116, 122) and a vacuum port (VP). The waste collection unit further comprises a vacuum source comprising a vacuum pump (132) in selective communication with said vacuum port of said waste container for providing a vacuum in said waste container to draw the waste material into said waste container through the suction line. Said vacuum source defines a vacuum passage (194) to carry air through said vacuum source, wherein said vacuum passage has a vacuum inlet (133) for receiving the air and a vacuum outlet (134) for directing the air from said vacuum source. The waste collection unit further comprises a sound attenuating enclosure (140) in which said vacuum source is disposed. Said sound attenuating enclosure defines an enclosure inlet (190) for receiving cooling air to cool the vacuum source and an enclosure outlet (206) for discharging warmed cooling air from said sound attenuating enclosure. Said sound attenuating enclosure substantially surrounds said vacuum pump and comprises a first section (142, 144, 146, 148, 150, 152) at least partially formed of a first sound-absorbing material configured to attenuate noise generated by said vacuum source during operation, said first section having an interior surface with geometric features formed therein to accommodate said vacuum source and define a cooling air path (CP) for the cooling air. Said geometric features comprise a pocket (155, 158) in said interior surface for receiving a portion of said vacuum pump, and a seat (156) against which said vacuum pump abuts.

摘要: A cassette (1700, 2600) for use with a medical waste collection system (30) is disclosed including at least one canister (36, 38) for receiving waste, and a receptacle (1699) connected to the at least one canister (36, 38). The cassette comprises a housing (1702, 1705, 2602, 2612) shaped for insertion into the receptacle, the housing having opposed proximal and distal ends and a housing void space (2604); a fitting (1734, 2664) shaped to receive a suction line (50), the fitting connected to the housing so that fluid drawn through the suction line flows into the housing void space; an outlet opening (1770) in the proximal end of the housing through which fluid is configured to flow from the housing void space through receptacle to the at least one canister; and a sleeve (1726, 2640) shaped to define: a sleeve void space (1727, 2652); and a first sleeve opening (1729, 2027) between the outside and the void space; and a second sleeve opening (1725, 2666) between the sleeve void space and the housing void space. The fitting is attached to the sleeve so that the fitting opens into the sleeve void space. The cassette further comprises a screen (1890, 2741) shaped to be removably inserted into the sleeve void space through the first sleeve opening and to be positioned between the fitting and the sleeve second opening so that fluid entering the sleeve void space flows through the fitting and across the screen; and a cap (1862, 2704) shaped to be removably attached to the sleeve to cover the first sleeve opening. The sleeve is attached to the housing adjacent the distal end of the housing so that when the housing is inserted in the receptacle, the sleeve is located forward of the receptacle so as to be visible, and wherein the sleeve is formed from at least partially transparent material so that the sleeve void space is visible.
