A mixture of 100 parts by weight of zeolite powder, 0.1 to 20 parts by weight of β-1,3-glucan, a 1:1 layered clayey mineral, a 2:1 layered clayey mineral and a proper amount of water is kneaded to prepare a plasticizable molding composition of zeolite. The composition is molded by, for example, extrusion into a honeycomb structure and fired to give a fired honeycomb zeolite which is excellent in dimensional accuracy and mechanical strengths and useful as desiccant, catalyst, carrier therefor and so forth.

The capacitance of a conventional activated carbon electrode is insufficient when the capacitor is discharged in a large current. The present inventors made extensive studies to obtain a molded activated carbon electrode which can be discharged in a large current instantaneously, can be handled easily, and has an excellent impact resistance, and as a result, they found that an activated carbon electrode obtained by molding a mixture containing activated carbon, a vinylidene chloride polymer or copolymer, and an organic material to be thermally decomposed by calcining to form macropores, and a molding auxiliary if necessary, and then calcining the resulting molded material, has the most suitable macropores for ion migration to enable discharging a large current instantaneously.

A precipitate composition comprising a water-insoluble phosphate of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr and Sn, and a hydroxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, Ni, Zn and Cu. The precipitate composition of the invention can be used as an adsorbent composition, which shows high adsorption capacity for acidic malodorous gases, such as hydrogen sulfide, as well as alkaline malodorous gases, such as ammonia.
