The reproduction apparatus includes: an optical head (2) that receives laser light that has been reflected or transmitted by the information recording medium and photoelectrically converts the laser light to an electric signal (S1); a signal processing circuit (4) that extracts an AC component from the electric signal (S1) and attenuates the AC component by a predetermined attenuation; an amplitude controlling circuit (5) that controls an amplitude of an electric signal (S2) outputted from the signal processing circuit (4) so as to become a predetermined amplitude; and a reproduction circuit (6) that reproduces information recorded on the medium based on an electric signal (S3) outputted from the amplitude controlling circuit (5). An information recording medium testing apparatus (1) includes the reproduction apparatus and a test information generating circuit (8) that generates test information (D2).

    摘要: In an optical information medium having an information bearing surface (21) having projections and depressions and/or capable of forming recorded marks, a functional layer (10) is added. The information borne on the information bearing surface can be read when reading light of a wavelength longer than 4NA·P L wherein P L is the minimum size of the projections and depressions or recorded marks and NA is the numerical aperture of a reading optical system is irradiated to the information bearing surface constructed by the functional layer or to the information bearing surface through the functional layer or to the functional layer through the information bearing surface. The intensity of reflected light from the functional layer changes in linear proportion to a change in the power of the reading light. The medium enables reading at a high resolution beyond the diffraction limit.
