摘要:
Composite fibers characterized in that they comprise 100 parts by weight of a wholly aromatic polyamide consisting mainly of structural units represented by the following formulae (A) and (B): -NH-Ar1-NH- (A) -OC-Ar2-CO- (B) (wherein Ar1 and Ar2 each independently represents a C6-20 divalent aromatic group) and 0.01 to 100 parts by weight of carbon nanotubes having an average diameter of 300 nm or smaller and an average aspect ratio of 5.0 or higher, and that the carbon nanotubes have been oriented in the fiber-axis direction. The composite fibers have excellent mechanical properties.

The present invention relates to a wholly aromatic polyester carbonate and a process for its production. An aromatic dicarboxylic acid, an aromatic diol, and a diaryl carbonate are used as starting materials in specific molar ratios, a prepolymerization step, a crystallization step, and a solid-phase polymerization step are essential steps, and a compression molding step is an optional step. This makes it possible to produce with good productivity a wholly aromatic polyester carbonate that has low coloration and a high degree of polymerization.

A particulate carbon catalyst in which particles having a particle diameter of 20 nm-1 µm account for a volume fraction of at least 45%, and the content of nitrogen atoms is 0.1-10 atomic% relative to the amount of carbon atoms.

Carbon nanotubes obtained by coating 100 parts by weight of carbon nanotubes with 0.01 to 100 parts by weight of at least one aromatic condensation polymer selected from the group consisting of a wholly aromatic polyamide, wholly aromatic polyester, aromatic polyester carbonate, aromatic polycarbonate, semiaromatic polyester, and wholly aromatic azole; a process for producing the carbon nanotubes; an aromatic condensation polymer composition which comprises 0.01 to 100 parts by weight of the coated carbon nanotubes and 100 parts by weight of an aromatic condensation polymer; and a molded object formed from the composition.
