Exchange of common capability information of wireless communication terminals is improved by taking in account also capabilities of any adjacent external device(s) (e.g. PC or laptop) of an end-user. A wireless terminal transfers (14) capability information of its own, and that of a remote wireless terminal and a remote external device to an adjacent external device (e.g. PC or laptop) of the end-user. The external data device determines (15), based on the received application capability information, its own application capabilities which match with the application capabilities indicated by the received application capability information, and presents (16) the matching application capabilities to the end-user. Thus, the communication parties are enabled to see and use application capabilities of their wireless communication terminals and adjacent external devices, e.g. during circuit-switched or packet-switched one-to-one call.

A method of using parallel media flows in a telecommunication system. A controlling network element is involved to signalling between a primary user equipment of a first user and a primary user equipment of at least one second user, and detects the capability of the primary user equipment of the second user to maintain two parallel media flows. If the capability does not exist in the primary user equipment of the second user, the network element amends the signalling such that capability of the primary user equipment of the second user to maintain two parallel media flows is indicated. A first media flow may be opened between the primary user equipment of the first user and the primary user equipment of the second user; and a second parallel media flow diverted to a secondary user equipment of the second user.

The invention is based on the idea of managing multimedia resource reservation by a solution in which, for a first user terminal, a first media terminal is searched and reserved (5-1), and a multimedia session is started (5-2). A multimedia session request is transmitted (5-4, 5-5) from the first user terminal to a second user terminal via an IMS subsystem. A second media terminal is searched and reserved (5-6) for the second user terminal. The information on the reserved second media terminal is transmitted (5-8, 5-9) via the IMS to the first user terminal, which informs (5-10) the first media terminal of the reserved second media terminal. After that, real-time data traffic can be transmitted (5- 11, 5-12) via an IP network, e.g. the Internet, between the first media terminal and the second media terminal.
