    摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for reorienting a toroidally shaped core configured to carry a green tire. The core includes a central axis defined through first and second oppositely facing tapered recesses respectively including first and second locking mechanisms. The apparatus includes a core support structure including a base and a reorientation member connected for movement relative to said base and a core coupling member. The core coupling member connects for movement with the reorientation member and includes a core locking mechanism that couples with the core coupling member and locks the core coupling member to the core. A drive system couples with the reorientation member and operatively moves the reorientation member so as to change the orientation of the central axis from a first orientation to a second, different orientation transverse to the first orientation.

    摘要: A module (10) for manufacturing a cured tire (200) from a plurality of tire components (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) is disclosed. The module (10) has a plurality of component appliers (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15) located at spaced locations along a predetermined path (20, 110), and a mobile tire building trolley (60A, 60B) for movement along the predetermined path (20, 110) and two detachable tire building drums (22) for mounting on the movable trolley (60A, 60B). A tire curing station (100) has one tire mold (50) for curing the assembled tire components while mounted on one of the detachable tire building drums. The tire is cured as the other detachable tire building drum on the mobile tire building trolley is having tire components applied. One or more of the plurality of component appliers includes a means for forming the tire component at the location of the applier. The applied components include a liner, a pair of bead cores, a ply, a pair of sidewalls, a pair of chafers, and one or more belt layers and a tread. Optionally the applied components may also include an apex, wedges, overlays, underlays, gum strips, and elastomeric inserts. The module (10) has a means (160) for transferring the detachable tire building drums to the tire mold (50) and further has a means for extracting the cured tire while mounted on a tire building drum from the mold. The tire curing station includes an induction curing means.

    摘要: A tire labeling apparatus (100) feeds labels (504) that are releasably adhered to a carrier web (502) from a supply reel (510) to a label dispensing station (900) where the labels (504) are transferred one at a time from the web (502) to an application roller (400). At the dispensing station (900), the carrier web (502) is tightly reversely bent to assist in sequentially "peeling" labels (504) therefrom; spent web material (502) is withdrawn from the dispensing station (900) and collected on a collection reel (520); and, each newly "peeled" label (504) is subjected to a jet of pressurized air (800) that forces the indicia-carrying face (506) of the label 504 into engagement with a curved, label-receiving portion (430) of the circumference of the application roller (400). Holes (426) open through the label-receiving portion (430), and ambient air is drawn through these holes (426) to generate air pressure differential forces that releasably retain each newly dispensed label (504) on the application roller (400) until the roller-carried label (504) is moved to an application station (1000) where the label (504) is applied to a rotating tire bead (56). As the application roller (400) is moved between the dispensing station (900) and the application station (1000), a resilient roller (470) and a label reader (490) move with it. At the application station (1000), the application roller (400) transfers the one label (504) that it carries to a rotating bead portion (56) of a tire (52); the resilient roller (470) assures that each newly applied label (504) conforms to the curved shape of the tire bead portion (50) to which it is applied; and, the label reader (490) reads the label's indicia (506). Once a valid "read" has been obtained, the application roller (400), the resilient roller (470) and the reader (490) are withdrawn, and the application roller (400) is repositioned at the dispensing station (900) to receive a next-dispensed label (504).
