An object of the present invention to provide a sheet manufacturing method and a sheet manufacturing die, in which a process of extruding a molten material from the die (4) and winding it around a cooling roller (5) can be performed at a high speed such as 60 m/min or more, and with which a sheet having a uniform thickness and a smooth surface can be obtained. In order to effectively charge the sheet with static electricity, the distance between paths (23,24) of product portion and end portions of the sheet from a die (4) to a cooling roller (5) is reduced by adjusting the temperature of the sheet at the end portions thereof. The die (4) is constructed such that the sheet is not influenced by deformation of a slit formed in the die (4), which is caused by heat expansion of the die (4) and adjustment operations.

A needle (5,47) capable of piercing the yarn (Y) is provided between the pulley (3,42) and either one of the first and the second tension rolls (16a,44a,16b,44b). Under the state wherein the needle (5,47) pierces the yarn (Y), an auxiliary weight (14a,14b,51a,51b) is added to the first or the second tension roll (16a,44a or 16b,44b), and the movement distance of the yarn (Y) from the position where the needle (5,47) pierces the yarn (Y) to the position where the point of entanglement (Yc) is engaged with the needle (5,47) is measured by detecting the amount of rotation of the pulley (3,42). Next, the auxiliary weight (14b,51b) is removed, an auxiliary weight (14a,51a) is added to the other tension roll (16b,44b or 16a,44a), and the movement distance of the yarn (Y) from the above position to the position where another point of entanglement (Yd) is engaged with the needle (5,47) is measured similarly. The measured movement distance of the yarn (Y) corresponds to the distance between the points of entanglement (Yc,Yd) and gives a measure of the entanglement. By the measuring apparatus, the degree of entanglement in a yarn (Y) can be measured automatically with high accuracy without using a tension meter.

Yarn treating apparatus for producing an interlaced yarn by the use of compressed air comprises a body member (2) having a yarn treating chamber (3) having a first planar wall (6) and a second wall (7). In cross section the planar wall (6) is represented by the line (6a), and the second wall (7) shows a semicircular portion (7A) and two further portions (7R and 7L) extending from the ends of the semicircle respectively and ending at the sides of the line (6a). Each of the further portions may take the form of an arc having the same radius as the semicircle, a tangent to the semicircle and the segment of a curve which would be between the arc and the tangent. A fluid nozzle (9) for ejecting the compressed air has an outlet (8) at the top portion of the semicircle portion (7A) to eject the compressed air to the first planar wall (6).

An apparatus for treating yarn with fluid which is designed to allow a yarn consisting of an as-spun multifilament to run between first and second components which have inner walls arranged facing against each other with a specified gap provided between them and to interlace the filaments by a fluid in order to provide the yarn with coherence. The first and second components are provided with at least one fluid conduit which is opened in their inner walls. These fluid conduits form a yarn treating region with axes of the fluid conduits and the inner walls of the first and second components. These fluid conduits are provided between the axes of the fluid conduits with a specified distance between them in a section which is substantially orthogonal with a running direction of the yarn and are arranged aslant so that the fluid ejected from the fluid conduits is directed to the yarn treating region.
