A dust core produced by compacting an iron based magnetic powder coated with an insulating coating, characterized in that saturation magnetization M ≥ 1.9T in a field of 1.6 MA / m, specific resistance ς1.5 ν Φ m, flux density B2k ≥ 1.1T in a field of 2 kA/m, and flux density B10k≥1.6T in a field of 10 kA/m. According to the invention, an iron based magnetic powder can be compacted industrially under a significantly high molding pressure and a high performance dust core having high density and excellent specific resistance and permeability can be obtained.
