摘要: An internal combustion engine includes: a cylinder block including multiple cylinders; a cylinder head; and a turbocharger including an inlet port connected to an exhaust outlet of the cylinder head. The inlet port includes a first wall portion located between one cylinder out of the two outermost cylinders and the central axis of the inlet port in the cylinder array direction, and a second wall portion located on the opposite side of the central axis of the inlet port from the first wall portion. The first wall portion includes a thick-walled portion that is greater in thickness than the second wall portion, and a thin-walled portion that is smaller in thickness than the thick-walled portion and is located upstream of the thick-walled portion in the direction of exhaust gas flow.

摘要: A catalyst device 10 includes a catalyst carrier serving as a heating element 31 that generates heat when energized. The catalyst device includes a guide pipe 40 that guides exhaust into the case 20. The catalyst device includes a connecting pipe 50 that connects the guide pipe 40 to the case 20. The case has an end that is an insulative portion and projects further upstream, in the direction in which exhaust flows, from an end surface of the catalyst carrier. A temperature difference inducing structure, which induces a state in which the connecting pipe is relatively lower in temperature than the end of the case, includes a heat shield 100, encompassing an outer circumferential surface of the connecting pipe 50 and having an opening in part of a portion opposing the outer circumferential surface of the connecting pipe, and a stay fixing the outer circumferential surface of the connecting pipe to an internal combustion engine.

摘要: The present invention is related to an electrically-heated catalyst in which cracks or ruptures of comb-shaped electrode portions are prevented by releasing thermal stress due to difference in thermal expansion between the carrier and the comb-shaped electrode portions. The catalyst includes a carrier; more than two comb-shaped electrode portions extending in a longitudinal direction; an electrically conductive underlying layer provided between the carrier and the comb-shaped electrode portions; and electrically conductive fixing layers bonding to the comb-shaped electrode portions and the underlying layer to fix the comb-shaped electrode portions to the carrier. The fixing layers are provided to be interspersed on the comb-shaped electrode portions and the underlying layer. Each of the comb-shaped electrode portions is fixed to the carrier by the fixing layers bonding to the comb-shaped electrode portion and the underlying layer locally at more than two points spaced apart.
