摘要: A method of throttling a media stream, comprising a sequence of media segments, for transmission to a client via a radio access network is provided. The method comprises acquiring a media segment, determining a duration of the media segment, transmitting a first part (501′-504′) of the media segment to the client, and transmitting a remaining part (501″-504″) of the media segment to the client. At least one of the parts (501′-504′, 501″-504″) is transmitted during a time interval (&Dgr;t1, &Dgr;t2) which is shorter than a corresponding duration of that part, and transmitting the remaining part is delayed (&Dgr;t0), such that a time interval (&Dgr;ttx) between starting transmitting the first part and transmission of the remaining part being completed is shorter than the duration (&Dgr;tp) of the media segment. Further, a corresponding network node for throttling a media stream is provided. Embodiments of the invention are advantageous in that bursty traffic is generated, resulting in a more efficient usage of air interface resources and reduced power consumption.

摘要: A method for managing streaming media traffic at a network entity capable of assuming a first and a second radio channel state, a transition from the first to second radio channel state requiring a first predetermined time period t1, comprising combining, at the network entity, at least two media segments such that a resulting combined media segment comprises media data equivalent to a second predetermined time period t2, the second time period being greater than the first time period, transmitting, from the network entity, the combined media segment in the first radio channel state during a third time period t3, initiating transition, at the network entity, from the first to the second radio channel state, and waiting, at the network entity after the initiating step, at least for a time period t=t2−t3−t1, wherein the second time period is greater than the sum of the first and third time periods.

摘要: The invention relates to techniques for providing media content in a broadcast scenario to a streaming player, like a DASH player. In order to compensate a problem of variable segment sizes, which leads to the variation in the reception intervals of the media segments, it is proposed to estimate the segment availability time for requesting subsequent media segments. The estimation considers a correction value compensating the variation in a reception intervals of media segments so that the streaming player receives the media segments at a constant time interval, namely at the segment duration. In one embodiment it is proposed to use the value of the minBufferTime from the MPD file, The minBufferTime is namely an indication of the varying segment size of the media content. The minBuFferTime indicates the time needed for buffering a media content before starting playing out said media content. The estimation may be done on the client, user equipment UE or on the server device side. If the UE is correcting the segment availability, then the UE uses the time of a first segment reception as base. If the server is correcting the segment availability then it uses the original segment availability time at the server as base plus end-to-end delay.

摘要: The invention relates to devices and methods for selecting network nodes in a cellular communication network. By dropping fixed connections between network nodes of different hierarchy levels, for instance, a network node of an access network has to make a selection among different core network nodes. The selected core network node requires service information on the access network node and the area serviced by the access network node. The invention describes devices for selecting network nodes and for providing service information. The devices can be implemented in the network centrally or in a distributed manner. Moreover, the invention describes network nodes cooperating with said devices, as well as methods for converting the invention.
