摘要: A chip scale star tracker that captures plane-wave starlight propagating in free space with a wafer-thin angle-sensitive broadband filter-aperture, and directs the light into a waveguide structure for readout. Angular information about the star source is determined from characteristics of the starlight propagating in the waveguide. Certain examples include internal propagation-constant-based baffling to elimination stray light from extreme angles.

摘要: A star tracker (500) comprising: a lightguide; a coupling system disposed on a surface of the lightguide and configured to couple starlight (130, 135) into the lightguide such that a mode of propagation of the starlight (130, 135) in the lightguide is at least partially determined by an angle of incidence of the starlight (130, 135) on the coupling system; a plurality of optical apertures (520) connected to the lightguide; and an interferometer (560) selectively coupled to a pair of the plurality of optical apertures (520) and configured to determine a phase difference between the starlight (130, 135) propagated via the lightguide to each of the pair of the plurality of optical apertures (520).
