Abstract: Disclosed is a method for assembling and contacting an illuminant comprising at least one light emitting diode (1,2,3), said illuminant having a support element (4) on which the light emitting diodes (1,2,3) are arranged, wherein the support element (4) has passage openings (21) in the electrical contact region of the of the cable (9) and preferably in the vicinity of the cable (9). The method comprises the following steps: contacting the cable (9) with the support element (4); and applying a hot melt adhesive to the cable (9) and the support element (4), wherein the hot melt adhesive (20) surrounds the cable (9) and thereby mechanically connects the cable (9) to the support element (4). The hot melt adhesive (20) is applied to the support element (4) in such a way that the hot melt adhesive (20) fills the passage openings (21) and lies on both sides of the support element (4).
