A new and novel mold (10) for manufacturing glass articles (A, A1, A2, A3), particularly containers such as salad containers, bowls or the like, having a configuration with at least one through hole or bore (FP, A1', A2', A3') formed through their walls, which comprises three distinct and separable parts, i.e.: - a die (11) defining the outer shape (S1') of the glass container (A) to be molded, and adapted to receive a gob of glass (V) in a plastic or molten state; - a plunger (12) defining the inner shape (S2') of the glass container (A) to be molded, and - a closing ring (13),
said three parts (11, 12, 13) being designed to be pressed onto one another to cause pressing and expansion of the glass gob (V) in the cavity of the mold (10) and to mold and form the glass container (A), wherein the die (11) has a monolithic construction composed of one piece, and the closing ring (13) and the one-piece die (11) have at least one protruding portion (13a, 13', 11') defining the shape of the through hole or bore (FT) to be molded and formed in the glass container (A). As compared with currently used prior art molds, this new mold (10) has a simpler construction and further ensures a superior, yet unachievable quality of the article and bored glass container that has been molded.
