摘要： The invention relates to a device for applying a liquid or pasty coating medium to a moving material web (14), in particular consisting of paper or cardboard. Said device comprises at least one coater (16), which delivers the coating medium to a moving substrate and is provided with a support assembly (30), which supports the material web in the vicinity of the application of the coating medium to the material web (14) and comprises a guide and deflection roller assembly (22, 26, 28) and at least one elongated support element (24). Said element runs continuously around several rollers of the guide and deflection roller assembly and is in contact with the material web (14) with one supporting face, in order to support said web (14) and/or to lend support by means of at least one of the guide and deflection rollers (22, 26, 28). According to the invention, at least one restraining roller (28) that is in contact with the material web (14) is associated with the support assembly (30). Said roller is located in such a way that the material web (14) is fed over the restraining roller (28) to the coater (16) or transfer element (44) and the material web (14) is restrained between the support element (24) and the restraining roller (28).
