A method and a system for implementing a terminal handover are provided and applied to a network with an identity identifier and location separation architecture. An access identifier (AID) is taken as a user identity identifier of a terminal in the network, a routing identifier (RID) is taken as a location identifier of the terminal. The terminal intercommunicates with a correspondent node in the traditional network by an intercommunication gateway ISN (Intercommunication Service Node). The method includes: when the terminal communicates with a correspondent node in a traditional network, a source access node ASN (Access Service Node) being informed that the terminal needs a handover and requesting a target ASN for a handover; the target ASN responding to the request of the source ASN, the source ASN sending the information of the correspondent node of the terminal to the target ASN; after the handover between the source ASN and the target ASN is completed, the target ASN assigning to the terminal a RID pointing to the ASN itself, and sending the updated AID-RID mapping information of the terminal to an ISN through which the terminal communicates with the correspondent node in the traditional network according to the information of the correspondent node of the terminal. The technical scheme can ensure that an interruption caused by a handover does not occur in the on-going communication service between a terminal and a traditional network.

The present invention discloses methods and systems for implementing inter-network roam, querying and attaching network, wherein the methods and systems are applied in a network where an identity identifier and a location identifier are separate. In the network, an Access Identifier (AID) is used as the user identity identifier of a terminal and a Routing Identifier (RID) is used as the location identifier of the terminal. Said method for implementing inter-network roam includes the following steps: after attaching the Access Service Node (ASN) in a roaming network, a roaming terminal sends a first data packet to a destination device, wherein the destination address of the first data packet is the AID of the destination device; after receiving the first data packet, said ASN in the roaming network queries locally the mapping information of the AID-RID, and requests to query the RID of the destination device to a roaming gateway if the RID of the destination device is not found and the destination device does not belong to the roaming network; the roaming gateway queries the RID of the destination device from the home network of the destination device and returns it to the ASN in the roaming network; according to the RID of the destination device, the ASN in the roaming network sends the following data packets of the roaming terminal to the destination device.

A method for handoff management of a Mobile Node(MN) is disclosed in the present invention, applying to identifier-location-separating framework. When the current source Radio Access Network(RAN) of the MN determines the MN needs to initiate handoff, the source RAN initiates a handoff request containing target RAN information to the first Access Gateway Router(AGR1), and the AGR1 transmits the handoff request to the second Access Gateway Router(AGR2) of the target RAN; the AGR2 returns a handoff response; the AGR1 transmits a handoff command to the MN; the MN initiates an access request to the target RAN and finishes the handoff to the target RAN. A corresponding system and an Access Gateway Router(AGR) are also disclosed in the present invention. The relative procedure of mobility management in the present invention, based on the identifier-location-separating framework, is implemented by network side equipments and can be supported by the MNs with no need of change.
