摘要： Acrylamidase enzymes are provided which have acrylamidase activity at pH 4.0 which is at least 50 % of their acrylamidase activity at pH 7.0. Such enzymes can be produced by the novel microorganisms Rhodococcus strains NCIMB 40889 and NCIMB 40755. Such enzymes and microorganisms can be used for reducing free acrylamide in polyacrylamides which are produced at low pH and in particular cationic and substantially non-ionic polyacrylamides.

摘要： Processes are provided for production of substantially dry polyacrylamide powder in which levels of residual acrylamide monomer are significantly reduced. These processes are particularly suitable for use on an industrial or plant scale. One process comprises providing aqueous polyacrylamide gel particles contaminated with acrylamide monomer, applying amidase enzyme to the aqueous gel particles whilst they are at a temperature of from 50 to 95 °C and substantially immediately passing the aqueous gel particles to a drying stage and subjecting them in that stage to a temperature at least 60 °C. The final levels of residual acrylamide can be even further reduced with the introduction of a short holding stage of not more than 30 minutes at a temperature of 20 to 70 °C before passing the particles to drying.

摘要： There is provided a process for the production of novel, stable fluid enzyme dispersions having a content of at least 0.5 % by weight enzyme, in which the enzyme is present in the form of anhydrous particles of diameter less than 30 mu m, comprising emulsifying an enzyme composition into water immiscible liquid in the presence of a polymeric dispersion stabiliser to form a stable dispersion of aqueous enzyme particles having a dry size below 30 mu m dispersed in the liquid, and dehydrating the dispersed particles by azeotropic distillation, characterised in that before, during or after dehydrating the particles an organic liquid which is less volatile than the water immiscible liquid and which is selected from surfactants and water miscible liquids is added to the dispersion and the water immiscible liquid is distilled from the dispersion until the amount of the initial water immiscible liquid remaining in the dispersion is below 20 % by weight of the liquid phase in the dispersion. These novel dispersions may be incorporated into liquid enzyme-containing compositions, in particular liquid detergent compositions.

In one embodiment it is preferred to assist back-washing with an air purge while in another embodiment there are means for disassembling the filtration assembly to permit cleaning.
