A flocculation washing machine comprises an outer barrel, a washing structure disposed inside the outer barrel and a circulating water treatment device disposed outside the outer barrel. The circulating water treatment device comprises a flocculation treatment unit for performing flocculation treatment on washing water; the flocculation treatment unit is communicated with the outer barrel through a filtering device, so that flocculation water after filtering treatment flows back to the outer barrel. And an overflow port is formed in the filtering device, and a flow sensor for detecting an overflow rate is arranged at the overflow port. A control method of the flocculation washing machine comprises: an overflow rate of the filtering device and/or a liquid level height in a flocculation container are detected in real time, and a blockage state of the filtering device is judged according to a relationship between a detection value and a preset value. The blockage state of the filtering device is determined by judging whether the overflow rate of the filtering device and/or a reduction rate of the liquid level height in the flocculation container is larger than a preset value, and the purpose of providing a basis for accurately judging whether a filter element of the filtering device needs to be cleaned or replaced is achieved.

A method and system for measuring and treating fluid streams having particles therein is disclosed. A sample of the fluid stream is obtained and processed to remove large particles, to obtain an aliquot of the fluid stream with some particles therein. A parameter in the aliquot is measured that relates to quantity and/or charge of the particles. The aliquot was found to be representative of the whole fluid stream, so when the parameter deviates from a desired value, this indicates that particles in the fluid stream require treatment. The method and system can further include treating the particles in the fluid stream until the measured parameter in the aliquot returns to the desired value.

Techniques are described that relate to enhancing flocculation and dewatering of thick fine tailings, for example by reducing process oscillations. One example method includes dispersing a flocculant into thick fine tailings having a turbulent flow regime to produce turbulent flocculating tailings; subjecting the turbulent flocculating tailings to shear to build up flocs and increase yield stress, to produce a flocculated material having a non-turbulent flow regime; and shear conditioning the flocculated material to decrease the yield stress and produce conditioned flocculated tailings within a water release zone; and dewatering the conditioned flocculated tailings, for example by employing sub-aerial deposition. The thick fine tailings may have a Bingham Reynolds Number of at least 40,000 upon flocculant addition. Inhibiting process oscillations may include providing turbulent tailings feed, configuring a downstream pipeline assembly to reduce backpressure fluctuations and/or reducing air content in the flocculant solution, for example.

A process for water treatment, including a combination of methods from the group comprising coagulation, sedimentation, flocculation and ballast flocculation, which is further improved by the addition of a simplified sludge recirculation system. The recirculation system corresponding to this process allows higher sludge density as well as less significant water volume losses by making the sludge accumulating at the bottom of the sedimentation zone go through a hydro cyclone a certain number of times in repeated cycles thus augmenting the solid particles density of the extracted sludge. The system may also be controlled by a suspended solid analyser, a flow meter and/or a timer. The present invention also includes a method of producing specific fluid flow control behaviour with this simplified sludge recirculation system, which furthermore improves the efficiency of the process.
