摘要: In one form, an imaging system (100) comprises an imager (130) that forms an image of an object (90) in a field of view, a rotationally symmetric lens assembly (110) disposed between the imager (130) and the object (90), and an equalizer (156). The rotationally symmetric lens assembly (110) provides increased collection efficiency for a given depth of field, whereby the rotationally symmetric lens assembly (110) causes aberration, compared to a well-focused lens. The rotationally symmetric lens assembly (110) comprises a front negative lens (112), a rear positive lens (118), and an aperture (116) positioned between the front and rear lenses (112,118). The equalizer (156), which is connected to the imager (130), receives image data and at least partially compensates for the aberration caused by the rotationally symmetric lens assembly (110).

摘要: Systems and methods of optical code reading include production of image data by a color image sensor array (102) and processing of the image data to decode an optical code (112). In one configuration, the color image sensor array includes first and second sets of sensor pixels (204, 206, and/or 208) sensitive to light having wavelengths within, respectively, first and second wavelength bands, reflected light is focused by an optical system (104) to form an image of an optical code on the color image sensor array, first and second sets of image data representing light intensity levels sensed by, respectively, the first and second sets of sensor pixels are produced, and the first set of image data is processed to determine whether the second set of image data is to be used in combination with the first set of image data to decode the optical code.

摘要: A data reader including one or more imagers, the data reader having fold mirrors (130) that permit the imagers (60) to be closer to each other and permit an optical code reader housing (82) to confine them to a smaller housing volume or capacity. A plurality of sets of fold mirrors (130) can also be employed to convey at least a portion of at least two different perspectives of a view volume (134) to different regions of an image field of a common imager (60). The sets of fold mirrors (130) may also include one or more split mirrors that have mirror components that reflect images from different view volumes (134) to different imagers (60) or different regions of an image field of a single imager (60).

摘要: A variety of complementary methodologies may be selectively and systematically employed and are capable of reconstructing label information, such as undecodable characters or elements, where label (95) defects may prevent decoding. Such methodologies include reconstruction from partial information ( Figure 2 ), use of edge strength indicators ( Figure 4 ), decoding techniques based on agressiveness, and learning mode for agressiveness level. Distortion of label information due to mechanical aspects of the scanning mechanism may be corrected and feedback from decoding may be used to adapt various signal processing parameters, such as gain and threshold. Decoding of a digital representation of an input signal may be attempted at first with decoding of the part or all of analog signal being undertaken only after a number of attempts at the digital signal prove unsuccessful.
